Like a Shepherd

High in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan, life still moves at the pace of the herd. I followed shepherds and their animals across snow-streaked hills — a story about silence, space and the bond between people, animals and the land.

We drove for hours without seeing a single fence. In the high valleys of Kyrgyzstan, the land still belongs to everyone and no one — and to the animals most of all. I spent days alongside shepherds like Nurbek, watching how little needs to be said when a person, a horse and a dog have worked together for years.

What stayed with me most is the silence. Not an empty silence, but one filled with wind, hooves and the slow patience of people who live by the rhythm of their herd. These photographs are my attempt to bring a piece of that silence home.
