Photographs of close encounters and wide landscapes — made with curiosity, patience and a love for serendipity.
I photograph what moves me, the bond between people, animals and the places they live. These are some of the stories I keep returning to.
High in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan, life still moves at the pace of the herd. A story about silence, space and the bond between people, animals and the land.

A studio series about expression. My brother Willem tells stories with his face and his hands, no words needed. Photographed in black and white, because nothing should distract from him.
View storyTravelling through rural Albania, I met people whose warmth needs no translation. A donkey that refuses, children on a bus, three generations in one garden — small encounters, big stories.

Serendipity is my favourite travel companion. A flock of sheep in the morning light, a child in a creek, a pink street in Marrakech — moments I didn’t plan, only found.

Don’t try to sum me up in one sentence. I don’t like to fit in a box. Mother of three. Socially minded, socio educated. Highly interested in the beauty of nature and life, with an eye for serendipity and a good story. Always curious, in love with the mountains, seeking variety, open to the world. I find energy and creativity in close encounters.
Special thanks to Sven, who’s always saying YES to my plans and ideas, even when I’m still in doubt. And to my incredible children Aldo, Remi and Ada: thank you for challenging me, for teaching me and for making me laugh every day.
Being a true people lover, it breaks my heart to see so much human suffering in the world. Each year I donate 10% of the profits from print sales to charity.
Alongside photography, I host MONTI, a light, welcoming space in Gentbrugge near the Gentbrugse Meersen. It's where people gather: to meet, to learn, to exhibit, to say goodbye, to share a meal. You're warmly welcome. More at www.monti.gent.
